Day trip to Windsor castle

Today we had virtually the entire day free prior to leaving London Heathrow at 9:00 p.m. so we took a jaunt to Windsor to check out the 900+ year old castle. The Queen was in residence (the flag was at full staff).

I (Chris) have never seen more tour busses parked up nearby or more visitors waiting to gain access. We had pre-booked our tickets and we still had to wait in line(s) for over an hour. Entrance would gain from a timed-entry system! There are three main attractions: State Apartments; Queen Mary’s Dolls’ House; and St. George’s Chapel. Only one (State Apartments) was open! All in all, not really worth the bother.
