KEW GARDENS IN JUNE

Visited Kew Gardens, officially known as “The Royal Botanical Gardens, Kew” today to see the Dale Chihuly glass exhibit “Reflections on Nature” with installations both outside and inside several buildings such as the Temperate House and Waterlily House. We tracked down each of the installations (along with hundreds of small children on school outings rushing about and screaming). However, even with rain and this distraction we were overwhelmed by the creativity, beauty, size, and complexity of the pieces. Here is a selection of the installations.

Detail of “Persian Column” in the Temperate House
  • Real and Glass Lillies
  • Low-hanging fruit
  • “Ethereal White Persian Pond”
  • Real Lotus
  • “Sapphire Star”
  • “Summer Sun”
  • “Niljima Floats”
  • “Neodymium Reeds and Turquoise Marlins”
  • “Paintbrushes”
  • “Red Reeds”
  • “GreenHornets and Gold Waterdrops”
  • “Cattails and Copper Birch Reeds”
  • “Lime Crystal Tower”
His colors fit right in.
